I always tried to get there early before the sun came up.
The grocery store opened at 7:00 a.m., but I was usually there at 6:45 a.m. The fewer people who saw me the better. It was terrible when that happened, people’s looks of disgust mixed with pity burning me deep as I kept my eyes focused on the ground.
